LPBC NEWSLETTER
LPBC FRIENDS,
Hope everyone had a nice weekend and enjoyed the cooler weather! If you missed our September 25th Baptist Memorial Health Care hosted LPBC Signature Breakfast featuring Coach Ron Hunter and Dr. Manny Ohonme, founder of Samaritan's Feet, make sure to click here and watch the video from the event, courtesy of Media Source. We've also posted pictures on our , courtesy of Creation Studios Photography, so you can download them or tag them there. Coach Hunter was the first to coach a game barefoot in support of Samaritan's Feet and so, he and Manny have formed a great friendship over the years. As a special treat, we had Manny interview Coach Hunter, and throughout the presentation both shared inspirational stories, lessons learned, and helpful tidbits of advice. Manny left us with "Three Questions to Ask Daily," which I highlighted in this week's Giving Back Column in The Commercial Appeal.
Thanks to Opera Memphis for making us a continued part of their 30 Days of Opera event and for kicking off our Signature Breakfast with style! Make sure to check out their performance of Pagliacci on October 9 and 10 at GPAC. It was also a rare treat to have students from both Memphis Catholic Middle & High School and St. George's Independent School at the event. Earlier in the week, Memphis Catholic Middle & High School students went barefoot and raised $600 for Samaritan's Feet! As Keith Norman, VP of Government Affairs for Baptist Memorial Health Care pointed out...when you convert those student dollars to the equivalent of corporate dollars...that's about $50,000 of value! We greatly appreciate the efforts of the students and were pleased to honor the Memphis Catholic - Education That Works internship program as our Charity Spotlight.
Our next LPBC Reception is hosted by FedEx and will be held Wednesday, October 21 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. We are finalizing the location this week and will be sending out the invitation and RSVP information shortly. Our speaker will be General Leroy Sisco, USA (Ret.), who served 42 years in the Military and prior to retirement was Deputy Commander of the 49th Armored Division and Assistant Adjutant General of Texas over the M-Day force. In 2007, General Sisco founded Military Warriors Support Foundation, a national nonprofit helping our Wounded Heroes with homes, jobs, scholarships, and more.
I'm working on putting together some tennis mixers, so please let me know if you or anyone at your company loves to play tennis! We're especially looking for 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 level players who would be interested in playing doubles on a Friday from 10 AM to 12 PM, followed by a short lunch. These events will be teamed up with Tennis Memphis and the Memphis Open.
Lastly, we're working on the best way to curate a gallery of positive stories, so you can use the page as a resource to spread good news and cool happenings in the Mid-South. We have started a Flipboard Magazine title "Mid-South Bragging Rights." Make sure to follow the magazine and check back often as we are updating it daily!
Thanks! I look forward to seeing you soon!
- Jeremy C. Park, LPBC President
