MPD Fallen Officer Memorial

A Million Dollar Privately-Funded Project Honoring the 63 Officers Who Lost Their Lives in the Line of Duty

We are honored and humbled to have the opportunity to work with community leaders to spearhead the Memphis Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial.  This project has two primary focuses: 1) canonize the MPD Officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice protecting the safety and freedoms of our community and 2) provide their family and friends a place to remember and honor their loved ones.  Currently, 63 MPD Officers have lost their lives in the line of duty and there is no monument to recognize their service.

In the spring of 2011, a Fallen Officer Committee was organized, comprised of business and community leaders with MPD representatives.  A retired MPD Colonel provided the original vision.  Valentina Cochran of Architecture, Inc. and the committee shaped the concept and plan.  Metro worked with sculptor/bronze artists, John & Jin Powell of 2Js Studio, to create a 1/6 size bronze mock-up of the proposed centerpiece to serve as a visual aide in capturing the emotion and scene.  Metro Construction has pulled all of the various project details and design elements set forth by the committee to construct a memorial worthy of the sacrifices made by the Fallen Officers to create a lasting and fitting memorial, budgeted at approximately one million dollars. Oak Court Mall graciously contributed their courtyard space which offers prominent location, family-friendly atmosphere, the ability to host events and provide upkeep and security, and a long-standing relationship with the MPD.

This project is 100% privately funded, so now we need your help to bring the memorial to fruition.  Help us honor those Officers who have given their lives protecting our city and recognize the daily efforts of our Memphis Police Department.  So far, we have raised over $150,000 through public support at things like festivals and proceeds from our "Memphis Rocks" shirts, along with private and corporate contributions. You can help by purchasing a "Memphis Rocks" shirt or by contributing directly and have your name or company's name listed on the donor honor roll.  Some tiers even include a bronze centerpiece replica.   You can download the contribution form, learn more, or donate via the Memphis/Shelby County Law Enforcement Foundation website, which is collecting all of the financial contributions, at www.MSCLEfoundation.org.
